Free UAE tax invoice template
A ready-to-use, VAT-compliant tax invoice for UAE businesses — with every field the FTA expects, from your TRN to the 5% VAT line and AED totals.
What the template includes
Every field required for a compliant UAE tax invoice, laid out and ready to fill.
"Tax Invoice" + your TRN
The words "Tax Invoice" clearly displayed, with your company name, address, and Tax Registration Number (TRN).
Recipient name, address & TRN
The customer's name and address, and — on a full tax invoice where the recipient is registered — their TRN so they can recover input VAT.
Sequential number & dates
A unique sequential invoice number, the date of issue, and the date of supply where it differs from the issue date.
Per-line detail
For each line: description, unit price, quantity, the rate of tax, and the amount payable in AED — plus any discount.
AED tax total
The gross amount payable and the total VAT payable, both shown in AED, at the 5% standard rate (or 0% for zero-rated lines).
Reverse charge & FX
A statement referring to reverse charge where it applies, and — if the invoice is in a foreign currency — the AED exchange rate used.
How to use it
From blank template to a compliant invoice in four steps.
Pick full or simplified
Use a full tax invoice where the supply is more than AED 10,000 or the customer is VAT-registered; a simplified invoice is allowed at AED 10,000 or below to an unregistered customer.
Add your details
Fill in your company name, address, and TRN, set your sequential invoice number, and — on a full invoice — the recipient's name, address, and TRN.
Enter the supply
List each line with description, unit price, quantity, tax rate, and AED amount. VAT at 5% and the AED tax total calculate automatically.
Send & keep a copy
Add a reverse-charge statement and FX rate where they apply, export to PDF, send it, and retain the record for your VAT filing.
Full vs simplified tax invoice
A tax invoice is the document that lets your VAT-registered customer recover input VAT — and lets you support the output VAT on your VAT 201. The UAE VAT Executive Regulation (Article 59) sets two types, and the AED 10,000 threshold decides which you issue. If required fields are missing, the invoice may not be valid for VAT purposes, so the details matter.

Invoice template questions
What is the difference between a full and a simplified tax invoice?
The UAE VAT Executive Regulation (Article 59) sets two types. A full tax invoice is required where the supply is more than AED 10,000, or where the recipient is VAT-registered — it must show the full set of fields including the recipient's name, address and TRN, a unique sequential number, and a per-line breakdown. A simplified tax invoice is allowed where the supply is AED 10,000 or less, or the customer is not VAT-registered (typical retail); it needs fewer fields and no recipient details or sequential number.
What must a full UAE tax invoice include?
A full tax invoice must contain: the words "Tax Invoice" clearly shown; the supplier's name, address and TRN; the recipient's name, address and TRN (if registered); a unique sequential invoice number; the date of issue (and the date of supply if different); a description of the goods or services; for each line the unit price, quantity, rate of tax and amount payable in AED; any discount; the gross amount payable in AED; the tax amount payable in AED; a statement referring to reverse charge where it applies; and, if issued in a foreign currency, the AED exchange rate applied.
What must a simplified tax invoice include?
A simplified tax invoice must contain: the words "Tax Invoice"; the supplier's name, address and TRN; the date of issue; a description of the goods or services; and the total consideration and the tax amount charged. It does not require the recipient's details or a sequential number, which makes it practical for point-of-sale retail.
Do I need to show my TRN on invoices?
Yes. If you are VAT-registered, your Tax Registration Number (TRN) must appear on every tax invoice you issue — full or simplified. On a full tax invoice to a VAT-registered business, the customer's TRN must also be shown so they can recover input VAT.
How is VAT shown on the invoice?
VAT is calculated at the standard 5% rate on taxable supplies. On a full invoice each line shows the rate of tax and the amount in AED, and the invoice shows the gross amount payable in AED and the total tax payable in AED separately. Zero-rated lines are shown at 0%; exempt items carry no VAT and should be labelled clearly.
